HEAVEN OR LAS VEGAS
The concept for this collection began while listening to Heaven or Las Vegas. The song’s ethereal, abstract lyrics paint a story that contrasts the idyllic notion of heaven with the electric vibrancy of Las Vegas. Within this dreamlike soundscape, layers of meaning unfold—inviting an exploration of escapism, desire, and the delicate interplay between fantasy and reality. I was drawn to the city’s industrialized allure, a place saturated with wealth, lust, and perpetual revelry, yet shadowed by a stark counterpoint: the emptiness that comes with the risk of losing everything. This duality became the foundation of my research, pulling me into the world of the iconic Vegas Strip—the autonomy of its neon signs, the retro charm of its casinos, the larger-than-life presence of Elvis and his impersonators, the allure of showgirls, and the ever-present thrill of the gamble.
From this opulent landscape emerged the idea of the quickie wedding—a sharp, almost satirical reflection of life’s unpredictable turns. Here, ‘til death do us part can happen faster than ordering a cheeseburger at a drive-through, yielding not a meal but a legal wedding certificate. It is at once the embodiment of the American Dream and a wry commentary on its fleeting nature.
Inspired by Loewe’s transformative approach—elevating the mundane into the extraordinary—a central theme emerged: the reinvention of the leather jacket into a suit. Using sustainable leather sourced from discontinued off-cuts, I set out to craft with intention, breathing new life into overlooked materials. The palette, chosen with precision, centers on whites and unconventional hues, with baby blue serving as a bridge between vintage charm and modern edge.
This collection is the spirit of a Vegas wedding—where tradition collides with the unexpected, nostalgia is reimagined, and the familiar is reborn in an avant-garde light.
